About
I’ve been teaching myself the art of photography ever since I picked up a compact camera as an early teen, when I began to notice that I had an eye for composition. I’d pick up daisies in the garden as if they were roses, positioning them in a way which bounced sunlight onto their little water droplets so they’d glisten. I saw their beauty and wanted to make them look like the most beautiful wild flowers in the world.
This progressed to many other things. I’d lay awkwardly on the ground in order to capture a bee collecting pollen, clamber through a rose bush just to focus one perfectly placed petal over a sea of pink rose buds, i’d strive to find the best position to capture the setting sun through tree tops.
I then realised that I wanted to push myself further and begin photographing people. Although I enjoyed photographing flowers, objects and scenery, I found the concept of photographing people much deeper and more fulfilling. People have emotions, history, futures, flaws, beauty and thoughts. I saw this as a challenge.
If I can bring out the best in a daisy, could I bring out the best in a person?
I got my first DSLR camera at fourteen years old, when I started to rope willing friends and family into letting me photograph them. I began to learn the camera, but I also began to learn how to interact with people, allowing people to feel naturally comfortable and relaxed. I’ve learned over the years that sometimes taking a back seat is best. No one likes an overpowering photographer, a forced smile or an awkward stance. Some of my proudest photographs to date are ones where I as a photographer, was not given any special attention. I will always do my best to capture you at your best!
Seven years down the line, I am now proud to offer my professional services to capture your special moments.
